The Australian Computer Society (ACS) has appointed an interim chief executive officer (CEO) after the sudden and unexplained departure of Kim Denham.

Denham, who has served as ACS' CEO for just 12 months is "no longer working for the ACS", the ICT professionals association said in a statement today.
ACS today announced it had appointed its general manager of finance and business services Sam Burrell to the role shortly after receiving an enquiry from ZDNet.com.au about Denham's departure.
Burrell will serve as the interim CEO until it finds a permanent replacement for Denham, the ACS said.
"ACS records its appreciation of the dedication and energy that Kim brought to the role and wishes her well in her future endeavours," ACS chairman, Kumar Parakala said.
Denham had replaced longstanding chief executive Dennis Furini who retired from the role in May 2007 after eight years with the association.
Prior to Denham's role as CEO of the ACS she had been the chair of its Western Australian Branch Executive Committee and National Councillor, according to the ACS' website.
