EMC Clariion storage systems provide several ways to use Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) for discovery and monitoring. Navisphere provides a foundation for management of Clariion storage systems. However, some customers have complex environments where there is a mixture of different information systems from multiple manufacturers. Those customers may complement the use of Navisphere with network management protocols such as SNMP and general management systems such as framework applications. The purpose of this paper is to describe in some detail how SNMP can be used in a Clariion environment.
