Publisher’s description

FedEx Express (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company, needed deeper, more granular insight into factors that influence the profitability of an aspect of its business. The move from a UNIX-based analysis solution to Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services delivered a tenfold increase in performance and an 80 percent decrease in the cost of ownership. A subsequent upgrade to a 64-bit Microsoft Windows operating system-based solution running on an Itanium II-based server delivered an additional threefold performance increase and an 85 to 90 percent decrease in data load times.
