Upon this legal foundation rest the rights of US companies to buy and sell software. What is generally known as "selling software" is really selling a limited license to use and copy the software. I apologize for this nationalistic point of view to my non-U.S. readers. Some software includes patented technology. However, most software has only copyright protection.
