Vividwireless has also doubled the allowance of its entry-level plan, boosting its quota to 2GB from 1GB and reducing the cost by $1, now making it $19.

Currently, coverage of the network is restricted to Perth. The service was due to be launched in targeted areas around Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide in June.

Sydney and Melbourne can expect to get the service switched on "late July", according to the carrier's site.

Testing of its USB modem has shown an average download speed of 6.7Mbps, with typical download speeds between 5 and 8Mbps within its coverage areas, according to vividwireless.

Updated at 4:26pm, 6 July 2010: The unlimited plan costs $75, not $79.
