NBN cost-benefit analyses are so 2011

A year ago, Malcolm Turnbull repeatedly proclaimed that a coalition government would stop the NBN in its tracks and conduct a cost-benefit analysis on the NBN. These days, the analysis doesn't even get a look in. Is the idea dead forever — or could it still offer some value?

NBN battery backup may be opt-out

After resoundingly negative feedback, the government may consider letting National Broadband Network (NBN) customers opt-out of the mandatory battery backup for the network termination unit (NTU), a parliamentary committee on the NBN has heard today.

If analyst group CEG speaks on behalf of Optus, it looks likes we can assume the carrier has given up on its chances of winning the coveted NBN (national broadband network) tender being considered by the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy.
