The Android-powered 10.1-inch tablet is set to be released sometime in May, the telco told ZDNet Australia today, with the particular release day and pricing yet to be revealed. Telstra did say, however, that the device would be available with an outright purchase price.

Yesterday's leak revealed that the product may appear on Telstra's Data+ cap plan, designed for data and SMS combined with a mobile repayment option.

The leak also revealed that Telstra will soon offer the LG Optimus Black and the BlackBerry Bold Touch. The telco, however, wouldn't be drawn on confirmation for these two products.

Warwick Bray, executive director of Telstra Mobility Products, heaped praise on the Xoom tablet in a statement.

"Motorola Xoom arrives at a time when Australians are embracing both mobile tablets and devices powered by Android in record numbers," he said.

Motorola is holding an event in early May, which is tipped to be the official release of the Xoom tablet and the Atrix smartphone.
