IBM has won a deal with Western Australian energy provider Western Power as a systems integration and project management partner for a smart meter pilot.
Perth-based electricity utility Western Power has handed another parcel of IT services work to US outsourcing giant CSC, this time relating to desktop services.
Western Power is looking to install 10,500 smart meters as part of a four-year smart grid trial.
CSC has been awarded an outsourcing contract worth up to AU$21 million by West Australian electricity provider Western Power.
IT services giant CSC today confirmed it would make a number of its Australian staff redundant as a result of the global financial crisis.
Despite having a quality management product on the books at Western Power, no one was using it, causing the energy company to have problems with software development quality.
