Microsoft on Monday changed its mind for the third time by allowing Vista Home Basic and Vista Home Premium to be used as guest operating systems on a virtual machine.

Microsoft said on Wednesday that it has bought Kidaro, a company that helps businesses manage their collection of virtual machines.
For months, the industry has been calling on Microsoft to ease restrictions forcing customers to use only the priciest versions of Windows Vista for desktop virtualisation, which it had planned this week before changing its mind at the last minute.
Reversing a licensing change announced two weeks ago, Microsoft said on Thursday that it will not limit the number of times that retail customers can transfer their Windows Vista license to a different computer.
There appears to be no doubt that Windows 7 will be significantly more popular in Australia than Vista was, a reality that will help Microsoft entrench its wider software portfolio even further into the enterprise.
Virtual Folders is one component of Vista's new information visualisation, organisation, and search features, designed to relieve some types of data management nightmares.
