Trend Micro Internet Security Pro's broad feature set combined with its look and feel make it a serious contender, but questionable efficacy and middling performance mean it's a program we're not recommending for this year.
Intel Mac users will like Snow Leopard's smartly designed interface enhancements, and its Exchange support is a must-have (especially with Outlook for Mac on the way). With a ton of technological improvements, Snow Leopard is worth the AU$39 upgrade fee.
The only way to get better quality than the Dell UltraSharp U2410 is to spend a lot more money if you need a 24-inch, are on a budget but still need great quality images, we can wholeheartedly recommend this screen.
It's called the Viewty Smart, but it's definitely not a smartphone. Aside from the decent camera, there's very little to recommend this high-priced mobile.
The iPhone 3GS is faster and we appreciate the new features and extended battery life, but call quality and 3G reception still need improvement.
The N97 features class-leading specs matched with outstanding design and build, but it loses marks for the Symbian platform that desperately needs an overhaul to stay competitive.
At a price of AU$649, the 2309m is a decent buy. While it performs well, the blacks aren't as deep as we'd like, and we'd be more tempted to find something with a matte screen to cut down on reflections.
Previously known as the MacBook, Apple's basic 13-inch aluminium unibody laptop has been promoted to the "Pro" series, all while adding features and cutting the base price.
For AU$1599, it's hard to beat this MacBook's nearly Pro-level specs if you're in the market for a budget Apple laptop.
The Toughbook CF-W7 isn't bad. It's designed for a specialised niche, and if you're constantly exposed to water we'd say it'd be a good choice. We'd expect more for our money though, and would otherwise be more tempted to pick up a Thinkpad for general ruggedness.
Its camera is great and the screen looks amazing, but the UltraTouch is not a knockout. It's a weird mix of business looks, average apps and dodgy performance, and we just can't tell who exactly Samsung is trying to sell it to.
Looking for a phone for well under $100? Samsung's E2510 makes excellent calls and is easy to use, but you can forget about the extra trimmings on this one.
The BenQ E2400HD is a 24-inch monitor that sacrifices features for price, but doesn't have enough going for it to best its competition.
The Dell S2409W is a 24-incher that sacrifices features for price, but makes up for it in performance and ease of use.
The W700ds will make a huge dent in both your wallet and your lap, but for power users, it's tough to beat.
