• LG KF390

  Take out the Next G reception and you end up with a low quality handset at a mid-range price point. Still, it's great to see another blue tick phone for our friends in the bush to consider.

• Sony Ericsson Naite

  Sony Ericsson's Naite isn't a heart-starter but let's face it, the reason you'd buy the Naite is for the secret pleasure of knowing your phone is slightly less of a burden on the environment than those wretched iPhones.

• iiNet BoB wireless modem

  iiNet customers who yearn for a simple networking life will do well out of BoB, although like most routers, it's not without its quirks.

• BlackBerry 8707g

  The BlackBerry 8707g is reasonably zippy and easy-to-use, but lacks many common smartphone features like Wi-Fi and microSD memory expansion.

• Samsung Preston Icon

  The Preston has the look of a better handset, but poor call quality spoils an otherwise well-performing budget-priced touchscreen phone.

• Nokia E52

  At first sight the Nokia E52 won't set your heart racing, but its excellent battery life and ease of use make it a smartphone worthy of consideration.

• Nokia 6720 Classic

  With so many excellent phones to choose from, Nokia hasn't done nearly enough to make the 6720 desirable. It does the basics well, but struggles to justify its price.

• Samsung A551

  As Next G handsets go, the A551 isn't the best, nor is it the worst. Its middle of the road design and feature set is matched by a mid-range price tag.

• Engin oneHub ST790

  Engin's oneHub benefits from simplicity, but also suffers from it in comparison to other all-in-one router/VoIP solutions.

• Cisco 891 ISR

  A great little all-in-one network connectivity and security device that offers good value for money and is perfect for a small office or branch/regional office deployment. You would be hard pressed to pass by the 890 family of ISR devices from Cisco.

• Brother MFC-990CW

  The Brother MFC-990CW is a speedy, fully capable all-in-one device that earns our recommendation for an individual or a family that will make use of its touchscreen and telephone/answering machine.

• HTC Touch 3G

  Amongst the numerous HTC handsets this year, the unassuming Touch 3G may not make the strongest impact, but it is certainly one of our favourites.

• Samsung HD Icon

  If you have a desktop hard drive full of media files that you wish you could take with you on the train to work, there is no better phone than the HD Icon.

• HTC Touch Pro2

  Those who can afford the Touch Pro2 will be buying a feature-rich smartphone with a unique conference calling feature and a decent suite of business apps.

• LG Shine (TU720)

  LG makes some of our favourite prepaid handsets, and the TU720 is no exception. This new Shine matches good looks with great basic functionality and an excellent online experience.
