  • Dell ST2310

The ST2310 has a low price and is good for everyday tasks, but it lacks some of the extra features included with similarly priced displays.

  • Samsung N110

An easy-to-use netbook with a long battery life, but there are cheaper options.

  • Sony Vaio W

Attempting to create a premium-priced version of a netbook, Sony has added an HD display to the Vaio W. It's an attractive step-up package, but the internal components are the same as are in cheaper models.

  • Seagate Barracuda XT

The Barracuda XT is a 7200rpm 3.5-inch desktop drive featuring 2TB of storage capacity and a fast Serial ATA (SATA) 6Gb/second interface.

  • Dell Mini 10v

Dell's Mini 10v keeps a lot of the features of the more expensive Mini 10, while dropping the price to AU$549. It's one of only a handful of AU$600 netbooks that doesn't look and feel especially cheap.

  • Asus M60J

Core i7 is here in mobile form. Some vendors will be attempting to rush these laptops out as close to the Windows 7 launch as possible. Keep an eye out looks like the season to upgrade is well and truly upon us.

  • Asus RT-N13U Wireless N Router

Asus' inexpensive 802.11n router is a bit of a bargain, although it does also bring with it some bargain basement sensibilities.

  • Asus RT-N16 Wireless Router

Asus' high-end wireless router has plenty of throughput grunt, but we do wish the company would offer better support documentation.

  • Asus Eee PC 1101HA Seashell

Swelling the ranks of 11.6-inch netbooks, the Asus Eee PC 1101HA impresses with its design and battery, but having to overclock a slower version of Intel's Atom CPU is a dodgy workaround.

  • ViewSonic VNB101

The netbook market is so tight, you need some sort of competitive advantage to stand above the crowd. ViewSonic brings a standard netbook with two negatives instead poor battery life and a bad touchpad.

  • Asus UX30

The UX30 gets oh so close to what it strives to achieve, but small design choices like the stippled touchpad and port covers, and large issues like the low battery life prevent it from achieving greatness.

  • HP Mini 5101

HP's biz-minded Mini 5101 is a successor to the Mini 2140 (one of our all-time favourite netbooks). It looks and feels great, but for a premium-price netbook, we expect to get more features, not fewer.

  • ViewSonic VG2427wm

The ViewSonic VG2427wm has a good assortment of ergonomic options and great performance, but its asking price is just a bit too high to recommend.

  • Asus RS700-E6/RS4

The RS700-E6/RS4 1RU bare-bones server, features dual-socket Xeon 5500 series support and 12 DDR3 1066/1333 sockets for a maximum 96GB RAM. You'll need to bring your own components to fit these though, depending on your needs.

  • Asus Eee PC 1008HA

Asus reinvents its iconic netbook with the slim, attractive Eee PC 1008HA, a bold experiment that largely works.
