A state government agency has emerged as a possible culprit for last Thursday's massive blackout of Telstra's eastern seaboard fibre optic cable, that left up to a million people without communications.
Telstra's fibre optic cable servicing the coastal route between Palm Beach on Sydney's northern beaches and the Queensland border has been fully restored, a day after thousands of customers were left stranded by a cable slicing.
After a chaotic night, Telstra technicians have restored 90-percent of telecommunications between Gosford and the Queensland border after a backhoe accident cut the eastern seaboard's main fibre optic cable.
Thousands of Telstra customers have been left in the lurch following a cable cut that has seen users all the way from Palm Beach on Sydney's northern beaches to the Queensland border unable to access landlines, mobile phones, Internet and data services.
