Microsoft's announcement of cloud-based Office had sent ripples through the web, bringing the company one step closer to compete head-to-head with Google and other SaaS vendors such as Zoho. This screenshot gallery gives you a first look at the new online offering.
Microsoft has improved on an earlier offer to those who buy Office 2004 for Mac in the US before the new version of Office is released in January but have decided not to extended the offer to Australian customers.
Zoho Show is an online-only presentation application. Not only is it relatively powerful, but it's completely free to use. Whether you're a businessperson, teacher, student, sales rep, or anyone looking to create a cool presentation, Zoho Show is well worth a try.

Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 makes prettier presentations, so an upgrade may be in order if your work is particularly image-focused and you don't mind relearning the application. If PowerPoint 2003 serves you well, however, it offers most of the same features, albeit with flatter-looking graphics.
If you need to make sleeker-looking documents and presentations, Microsoft Office Standard 2007 is a worthy upgrade. But stick to your current software if you don't feel that it lacks anything.
Google Docs is a fantastic free online application that offers some exciting features. However, by virtue of being an online application, users with a slow connection will experience lag, and Docs still doesn't contain enough functionality to be a replacement for today's mainstay office suites in most businesses.
