South Australian internet service provider Adam Internet has won a contract to provide WiMax wireless broadband services to blackspot areas in Adelaide.
The South Australian government has gone to market for a telecommunications carrier to fill Adelaide's ADSL black spots until the $4.7 billion national fibre-to-the-node broadband network (NBN) gets underway.
Giant telco Telstra today revealed it would extend its existing rollout of ADSL technology to broadband-starved rural areas, if a bid for government funding was successful.

Telstra has declined to comment on information apparently leaked to a broadband community Web site suggesting the telecommunications heavyweight plans a push next month to drive customers on to higher-speed broadband services.
