Telstra has revealed the cost of replacing the pair gain technology that has caused so much anguish throughout Australia would hit AU$2 billion, according to the Opposition.

Telstra has moved to downplay the demand for high-speed Internet services in Australia, claiming only "a few thousand" people whose access standard is presently restricted by controversial "pair gain" technologies will want to upgrade.
