Union officials have called for an urgent hearing at the Australian Industrial Relations Commission in order to prevent layoffs it fears are on the horizon at Vodafone.
Ailing telecommunications player Hutchison is meeting with Union officials this morning to discuss impending redundancies.
Hutchison employees remain uninformed about the official action to be taken by the troubled telco, with workers unrepresented at meetings this morning, at which impending redundancies were believed to have been discussed.
Vodafone engineers could be next in line for the firing squad if current discussions the mobile giant is in with Union officials are not successful.
