Australia's domain name administrator has welcomed a legal settlement requiring a reseller to apologise and provide refunds to customers who responded to misleading notices requesting payment for renewal of domain name services.
Controversial Australian domain name reseller Internet Registrations Australia is being taken to court by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) amidst allegations of misleading conduct.
Complaints have been forwarded to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission concerning the marketing practices of Internet Registrations Australia.
Tempers have reached fever pitch in the domain name game, with NetRegistry's CEO Larry Bloch describing marketing practices of certain competitors as "a deceptively misleading, sneaky, slimy attempt to mislead the public".
