Hewlett-Packard (HP) today confirmed that there would be "some redundancies" among the 450-strong Australian remote support team for its managed services business, as work is offshored to an HP facility in Malaysia.
Hewlett-Packard today declined to comment when asked whether the company plans to outsource the jobs of an estimated 500 staff working in its support and service operation located in Rhodes, Sydney, offshore.
According to Gartner Dataquest, IT outsourcing to workforces abroad is booming, and the sector is likely to grow further this year.
