Microsoft overnight released a near-final release candidate version of Internet Explorer 8, the next version of its web browser.
Mozilla released Firefox 3 on Tuesday, opening a new front in the browser wars.
Microsoft is gearing its latest IE 8 release for Web developers. However, a second beta version, scheduled to arrive mid-year, is aimed at a wider audience, Microsoft's top browser executive has revealed.
