The local sharemarket moved higher today and although the response amongst telcos and tech stocks was mixed. Telstra, Austar and ecorp announced separate deals, but none seemed to excite investors.
Internet and technology stocks were mainly firmer today, following in the footsteps of US counterparts. However, the local sharemarket still finished slightly lower.
The Australian sharemarket continued to gain a firm foothold on unstable turf today as investors helped tech stocks mark their ground.
The Triple-I Index opened 7.1 points higher -- thanks to a firm finish on US sharemarkets and Australian Bureau of Statistics findings that GDP rose 1.1 percent in the March quarter to be up 4.3 percent on the year.
