Microsoft will soon raise its stakes in the gaming market with an elaborate new online service for its Xbox video game console.
Sony trimmed the price of its PlayStation 2 game console on Tuesday and gave a few more details on its upcoming handheld game player.
An Australian company that manufactures and sells a "mod chip" for Microsoft's Xbox video-game console has released the design for the hacking tool under an open-source license.
Sony will continue to dominate the video game business over the next few years, with Microsoft and Nintendo battling for second place, according to a report released Tuesday by research company In-Stat/MDR.
Australian PlayStation 2 owners will have to wait before playing games online, joining their Xbox counterparts in gazing wistfully at the opportunities for online multi-player gaming already available in the US.
