The .au Domain Administration (auDA) yesterday warned domain name registrants about letters and faxes offering registration of the net.au equivalent of registrants' com.au domain name for AU$225.
The administrator of .au domain names is warning Australian businesses to be wary of an organisation it believes is falsely positioning itself as the global domain name administrator.
.au Domain Administration (auDA) has sent out new warnings to domain name registrants regarding letters and faxes being sent by Domains Australia Pty Ltd offering a range of registration of a .com domain for AU$225.
The Federal Court has rejected an appeal by Domain Names Australia (DNA) and its director, Chesley Rafferty, against a finding in April that domain name notices distributed in July and September 2003 were "misleading and deceptive".
The mail-out of 500,000 advertisements by Domain Names Australia (DNA) was the biggest issue in the domain name market to affect consumers in 2003.
