Handhelds are handy, there’s no doubt about it, but my PDA has yet to prove indispensable or irreplaceable. My $500-plus palmtop gadget can be replaced with a compact address book, a diary, and a notepad. Sure, I’d have to do without the PC synchronisation--and I’d be carrying a few more nick-nacks around--but I can live with that.

Although standard graphics tablets are indispensable for professional illustration, image editing, and other graphics work, ultraprecision has been difficult to achieve because of the high degree of hand-eye coordination required to draw on a tablet while watching your progress on a monitor.
The Sony SDM-M51 15.1in display is one of the better looking low-cost LCDs we've seen, with an attractive, two-tone, ultraslim profile and a good feature set.
