Telstra has used YouTube to post a vehement video denial that its backhaul prices have caused problems for internet service providers wanting to operate in Tasmania
nternet service provider Amcom Telecommunications yesterday announced its deployment of broadband Internet-enabling equipment in exchanges in Perth and Adelaide would allow it to deliver ADSL2+ services to subscribers.
Several of the nation's largest broadband sellers today said they had no intention of imitating competitor iiNet and suspending the sale of services to new customers in regional markets, although Telstra's wholesale pricing remains a worry.
It makes sense for Australia's fledgling Internet telephony providers to work together.
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is shortly expected to announce during a trip to Darwin what areas of regional Australia will be targeted by the backhaul aspect of the government's National Broadband Network plans.
Legislation setting up the regulations for the National Broadband Network could be introduced to parliament as early as this week, which means Telstra will soon get some clarity about whether it's in a lot of trouble or just a little bit.
The broadband business -- plans, peaks, and penalties -- can be confusing to say the least. We line up some of Australia's best.
