  • Pacific Internet defuses Optus VoIP hype

    Interest in Voice over Internet Protocol technology has reached fever pitch amongst Australian businesses, an Optus survey claims, but competing research by Pacific Internet suggests otherwise.

  • Telstra holding customers back from higher speeds, ISPs claim

    Several of Australia's largest ISPs are saying that Telstra could give up to 8Mbit/s ADSL speeds to broadband consumers right now, and could have 5 years ago when ADSL was first introduced. But Telstra says there's no demand for higher speeds.

  • Internode more than doubles upstream speeds

    South Australian ISP Internode announced on Monday that it is ready to start trialling a broadband service that offers upstream speeds of 2.5Mbps, which more than doubles the previous maximum of 1mbps.

  • Internode to launch video-on-demand in 2006

    Internode will launch video-on-demand services into the Australian market early next year. In addition the ISP is finalising its plans to join the heating-up Australian Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) market this April.

  • ISPs demand intervention on Telstra ADSL2+ block

    A group of nine ISPs sent a letter to the ACCC accusing the telco of stifling competition and urging the regulator to throw its full force behind an investigation.
