Need some help with your taxes this year? While they won't take the sting out of tax time entirely, some of the most recent accounting software offerings are designed to do more than just arithmetic.

  • Quickbooks QBi 2008/2009

Accounting software is never going to be sexy. We didn't find Quickbooks QBi 2008/2009 sexy, but we did find the latest incarnation of the well known brand to be a great program and a worthy upgrade.

  • MYOB Accounting Plus

With the exception of payroll, MYOB Accounting Plus is pretty much a head to head product on a feature basis with QuickBooks Pro although straight MYOB Accounting would be a better match. Admittedly, if your company grows you will probably need to upgrade to, say, MYOB Accounting. If you sell a product and need to keep an inventory then FirstAccounts is definitely not for you.

  • SOHO Accounting Packages
