Optus and Vodafone have signed an agreement today to create an AU$700 million alliance to share 3G network sites and radio infrastructure across Australia.
Telstra has called on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to be "light handed" in dealing with 3G networks after the telco giant tied the knot with Hutchison to jointly own and operate H3GA's existing 3G radio access network.
Optus today rolled out its first Australian third generation (3G) site in the national capital, ahead of similar launches of its high speed wireless service in Sydney and Melbourne by the end of the year.
