    The Australian government has defended the effectiveness of its own and US anti-spam legislation following revelations only 3 percent of bulk commercial e-mails in the US complied with essential provisions of the Can-Spam Act.

    The Internet Industry Association (IIA) warned that violators of the Australian Spam Act will be pursued, following a meeting with the Federal Police High Tech Crime Unit earlier this week.
