America Online, Telecom New Zealand’s Australian arm AAPT and the Seven Network have announced the formation of a new joint venture company to operate the AOL service in Australia.
AOL|7 will launch its Australian ADSL broadband offering tomorrow, joining some Channel 7 content with some AOL Time Warner content in an attempt to entice customers to its service.
AOL7 has offered all staff not involved in customer service the chance to seek voluntary retrenchment as the venture shifts its business model away from dial-up Internet services.
AOL7 will begin trial of its new broadband service in a matter of weeks, with a view to providing the service commercially by 2003.
