Taiwanese chip manufacturer Via Technologies has released a new energy efficient CPU, the Via Nano, which will go head-to-head with Intel's latest mobile processor the Atom.
With its C7 processor, Via Technologies hopes to eliminate its performance credibility gap and allow notebook makers to come out with light notebooks for under US$800.
Today's netbooks are mostly Intel Atom-powered, but that could change with the advent of VIA's Nano processor, which outperforms Intel's CPU in several areas.
