The Federal Court has rejected an appeal by Domain Names Australia (DNA) and its director, Chesley Rafferty, against a finding in April that domain name notices distributed in July and September 2003 were "misleading and deceptive".
auDA has issued another consumer alert about a deceptive mail-out to Australian domain name holders by Domain Names Australia, possibly breaching undertakings given to the Federal Court.
.au Domain Administration (auDA) has sent out new warnings to domain name registrants regarding letters and faxes being sent by Domains Australia Pty Ltd offering a range of registration of a .com domain for AU$225.
Australia's domain name administrator, auDA, has unsuccessfully applied to the Federal Court to restrain a registry from using funds secured as a result of a mail-out earlier this year of domain registration documents the administrator claims resemble invoices.
auDA's suspension of reseller Internet Name Group as a provisionally-accredited registrar remains in place, even as the registry for .com.au, .net.au, .org.au and .id.au prepares to go live.
