An update from CNET.com.au

CNET.com.auWe've seen some exciting developments on CNET.com.au since its re-launch in May earlier this year and we thought it was time for an update. We continue to evolve the Web site. For instance, CNET.com.au launched new design refinements in October with additional Web 2.0 functions that enable greater reader interaction on the site.

As a result, CNET.com.au is headed for record traffic during the traditional Q4 Christmas buying season. Internal traffic stats for CNET.com.au show a forecast of 5m page views in November (250% growth compared with November 2005), fuelled by shoppers researching holiday purchases, our coverage on the Blu-Ray vs HD DVD format wars as well as updates and coverage on the gaming console market - Xbox 360 vs. PlayStation 3 vs. Nintendo Wii.

CNET.com.au continues to hire local talent, having recently appointed Ty Pendlbury (previously from Roam magazine) who is covering laptops, PDAs and business mobility. In December, Derek Fung joins CNET.com.au from IBM where he has worked as a security consultant for the past 6 years. Derek is passionate about gadgets and consumer electronics and we look forward to having him onboard. All staff are working on multi-media content presentation with CNET.com.au’s video readership traffic now growing at a rate of 50% every month.

To house the growing team of staff on CNET.com.au and our other brands including the recently launched GameSpot AU, CNET Networks Australia is moving to brand new premises in World Square at the beginning of December. Those of you attending the annual Red Ball will get a sneak peak of those offices this Thursday. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
