in brief Domain name seller Netfleet.com.au today said it had sold the SexToys.com.au domain name for $25,550; one of the highest sale prices ever for an Australian domain name.

Netfleet has also recently sold Mortgage.net.au for $13,500. Netfleet director David Lye claimed the sales meant the aftermarket for Australian domain names, which has only existed over the past year, was hotting up. Netfleet itself has over 30 thousand domain names for sale.

"In just 12 months, Australian domain names have turned into highly valuable assets," Lye said in a statement. "It might not be surprising to some that a domain containing sex achieves such a high sale, but previous record sales show that almost any industry has potentially powerful and valuable domains."

While large, the SexToys.com.au sale is not the highest known in Australian history; in mid-2007 Boomerang.com.au bought the Jobs.com.au domain name for an amount believed to be above $100,000. And in 2003 the Federal Government bought TourismAustralia.com for $201,000. However, some international names like Business.com have sold for millions.
