in brief The South Australian Government has signed a $20.4 million deal with SunGard Higher Education to build a new student information system for the state's entire Technical and Further Education (TAFE) network.

"The new system will be web-based, managing all data related to students from initial enquiries, admission, enrolment, payment of fees, allocation to classes, recording of results, progression to completion and graduation through to alumni," said state Education Minister Michael O'Brien in a statement.

"It is a self-service arrangement managing student academic and financial records and will keep information about all courses and training offered at TAFE SA."

The contract with SunGard will last for 10 years, with the implementation portion of the project, including a five-month implementation planning project, slated to run for the first three years.
