8.04 Out of date,- 9.04 has been released for ages. Michael Helmreich -- 04/10/09

Would you guys be able to do a new article on a more recent version.

I have migrated totally from MS to Linux, my favorites, Ubuntu, Linux mint (a streamlined Ubuntu), and Mandriva.

I use Office, 3d CAD- modelling software 2d CAD, e-mail, Internet, GoogleEarth, and many other typical apps.

One thing I have found that has developed markedly is the driver set, - I find that usually I plug in a printer, for example Samsung SCX-4500, Epson stylus photo XXX, and rather than scratching around for drivers, as is common for MS & Mac, the system does a reasonable auto-detect, and asks whether I want a test page.

Wireless networking has developed a lot.- for example, with Bigpond NextG I need their CDROM, on linux I need a couple of settings.

Even using my Motorola 3G capable cell phone all I needed was the DNS server address, and that is only because Optus changed it.

    No driver disk required.

I Find this is usually the case with a lot of hardware, even an UN-installed live CD distro (Win32 & Mac need installation) gives me 3D graphics on my notebook.

    These are worth noting.
Take a new look, please report.

    Kindest regards, Michael.
