Most of ajax (web2.0) applications are supported on prism (http://mozillalabs.com/blog/2007/10/prism/) which is an online emulator build by mozilla to prevent users to lost experiences with cool online applications... Give it a try.
M0tt - the software uses the GoogleGears tool to make it available offline - as it says in the article! Very useful.
The good: Available wherever I go.
The bad: Not as speedy or featured as some offline suites.
Thats nice and all, but how about those of us that are required to store files on our own servers and not trust some other company?
The good: its pretty, and hopefully more secure than google.
The bad: no self hosted option.
Still not enough headway made to make these comfortably usable. Very basic features missing that still keep me away from these online suites
The good: Nice interface
The bad: The major feature I am missing with both zoho and google docs is the ability to "on-the-fly" see what text goes on what page. I don't want to have to click to get a print preview because it makes formatting a nightmare. Google Docs also messes up the formatting on nearly all the word documents I've imported to it (changes bullets, fonts and even character styles) The Adobe online word processor is the only one that actually seems like a good alternative in terms of features, but it lacks the offline capabilities. These office suites are getting close, but they aren't there yet... On top of which, if you wanted to upload a large amount of documents to either of these suites you would have to spend hours as they don't support simple drag and drop uploads of folders.
I use the Zoho Planner and enjoy it very much.
@Michael Harris- If you are looking for something that allows batch uploads, look into Office Live Workspace. It contains web app versions of common Office programs, and also (obviously) supports Microsoft Office file types so if you are using those formats you need not to worry about losing formatting.
Cheers,
Jeff

Great tool. Online collaboration is the next stage. Lot of new online tools that allow Easy use, simple featues and Secure storage. What else can anyone ask for?
The good: Online. Check and share from anywhere with anyone.
The bad: Collaboration tools offer much more.
Redliner (www.redliner.com) workflow prompts add a new dimension to online document collaboration. In addition to showing all proposed changes in a single view of the document, collaborators are alerted when they need to take action on a document. Zoho Writer 2.0 provides one of the richest feature sets of any online word processor, now more accessible thanks to an interface revamp. And, of course, it's free...

Online is not an option for the new mobile workforce - as internet connectivity in Australia sucks - you can never be guaranteed a connection.
