Diablo II

The latest update to Blizzard's award winning Diablo II enhances some character classes and fixes a few scampering bugs.

Diablo II has undergone a number of evolutions from its release date to its current update, making the latest version 1.05. Blizzard's diligence in maintaining an even game-play feel has been very apparent throughout the maturation of Diablo II. This latest update is no exception.

After following in the footsteps of its highly successful kin, Diablo II has become a triumphant hit. While nearly three years in the making, Diablo II seems not to have been abandoned by Diablo's original fans as demonstrated by its current and immediate popularity.

Version 1.05 repairs several bugs that occurred with the implementation of version 1.04 as well improvements to Blizzard's on-line realms. In addition to these fixes, character skill sets have been tweaked to provide more even game play between the 5 classes.

As noted by Blizzard, a few of the major bug fixes are:

  • Fixed copy-protection for various CD, DVD, and CD-R drives.
  • Barbarians wielding two potions are no longer prevented from entering games.
  • Socketed items were mistakenly and irreversibly de-randomized in 1.04. (Fixed)
  • Fixed all spell ranges. They were mistakenly reduced in v1.04.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented deleting some Characters.

Blizzard goes on to state that several more minor bugs have been fixed by the introduction of version 1.05. Some of these are:

  • Fixed a bug in the trade screen when the Horadric Cube was open.
  • Duplicate ladder entries should no longer occur.
  • The Ladders scroll properly now when there are less than 999 entries.
  • Realm characters should no longer appear as robed.
  • Fixed a bug allowing users to appear in a channel twice.
  • If the user cannot connect to a default realm, a "Realm down" message is displayed.

As if these fixes were not enough, Blizzard makes some changes that enhance the game play value of Diablo II. The Paladin's Concentration skill now enhances the damage of Blessed Hammer, just as it did in 1.03. Also, the damage displayed on the Character screen is correct. The Amazon was the other character who got their skills tweaked. Her Strafe skill now correctly enhances base bow damage rather than total bow damage. And the Amazon's Guided Arrow skill now enhances base bow damage rather than total bow damage.

If you use the multiplayer version of Diablo II you will not be allowed on the servers until this patch has been downloaded an implemented. If you only play the single player version of Diablo II you can still enjoy the enhanced game play and bug fixes provided by this update.
