i used system mechanic 7 home/private version inconjuntion with the zone alarm system test and found i had poor security just about everything in the zone alarm list.after running system mechanic security was reperaired just about everything in the list expect for junk file and internet clutter warnings.i even noticed a huge difference in my browser internet explorer 7.i really enjoyed the protuct very easy to use.but unfortunately every time i turned the computer i would get a blue screen saying chech drivers or something or remove a program in safe mode.which regretfully is what i had to do.i liked the program.but the computer didn't like the program or vise versa.i am only using windows xp sp2.product good apart that problem.

    hey there champ,
you are correct it did fall short, & it didnt fix itself when it went into the SM Pro 8 either, they lost there Anti-spyware software, as they were selling a security suite with regisrty mechanic.
but i noticed they sell as well they have a non countering trial download of iolo system shield 3, don't install the Ani-Virus, or the firewall softwares that are built in, thus no clashes with existing running software.so your just running the sheild, & that is the Answer to the problem, iolo free anti-spyware program.
As i was a Seven year man to us,& Australia, to ZoneAlarm Security Suite, & they let me down in a big way, haven't use they're software for 6 months now, & am still subscribed for another 6 months, "A major let down".
hope this is the answer to the prblem, as iolo has saved my day a Registry Software.
    regards

i like it so much i ended up purchasing it, & it works fine.

The good: iolo is selling it anti-spyware in a separate package, or you have to install the 30 day trial of system shield 3, & un-install it, run mechanic, reboot, re-install the trial, & away you go.

The bad: when install it the shield,in one section it askes which software to install, you must untick the Anti-virus, & firewall software, so they don't clash with the current running software. The other is having to uninstall at the end of the trial, & clean, & reboot twice, & reinstalling the Shield, other than that, everything else is "Perfect".

The good:
  • New interface and more tools, including security tools
The bad:
  • Requires you to accept its decisions
  • Automatically broadcasts stats about your machine's health to its Web site
  • Uses new antivirus and new firewall technology which may fall short of existing solutions
The bottomline:

System Mechanic 7 Professional goes beyond its original greatness, morphing a system utility suite into a kind of grand security suite. As such, it comes up short.
