The DNS-323 does have a BitTorrent client. It is MLDonkey compiled by shadowandy. You can download the client from his homepage at http://www.shadowandy.net/_html/archives/2007/05/mldonkey_for_dns323.html
The good: Ease of setup Able to torrent
Great little unit for the price.
The good: Easy to use and setup. Works with XP no problem.
The bad: For the life of me, I cannot access the NAS with Vista. I can see it but cannot access the drives. I can access the setup and configuration pages but not the drives themselves. Vista tells me I need DLink drivers, Dlink says it works without drivers.
works with XP, Mac and Linux but not with Vista.
The good: Easy setup and access from XP, Linux (Ubuntu)
The bad: Can't get it to work with Vista even after upgrading the firmware to 1.03 like it says on DLINK's website. An email tech. support request did not resolve the problem. Vista says it needs some drivers.
A sequence of steps that may help with the Vista issue. So changing my rating to 8 from 5 now that it works from Mac, Linux, XP as well as Vista.
Most likely the instructions on the DNS 323 wiki site did the trick (this is the last one I tried). http://wiki.dns323.info/information:known_issues (look under "Share not accessible after reboot"). Here is the sequence of steps before it started working.
1. upgrade formware to 1.03 (its on dlink support site).
2. assign a static IP address to the dns-323 (this means you have to have a local dns server). I 'm not sure if this is 100% needed but I have a dns server and I did it.
3. follow the instructions on the dns323 wiki site for vista (i.e. enable admin account, add an entry for dns-323 ip under hosts and lmhosts) and reboot, logon as admin and run the 3.5.0.0 version of the dns-323 easy search utility to map Volume_1.
4. if you don't want to use it under admin account you can disable admin account from another id, reboot and then map using Easy Search utility under your own id and it should work (it did for me).

I got 2 500gb drives with the DNS-323 to build a Terrabyte storage soultion. It is great value compared to other devices. Setup was a breeze there was an initial IP conflict this how ever was quickly fixed. It is a no fuss way of adding storage to a network. All up it took less than 10 minutes to have full access to 1 Terrabyte.
The good: Simple setup good value
The bad: Few cons but it would be good to be able to use the unit to host web sites.
