It's a new year, and that can only mean a lot of new goodies hitting the stores. Check out this week's Australian product releases..

Apple has been manically unveiling a range of new products this week, coinciding with the San Francisco MacWorld Conference and Expo. In its PowerBook G4 series the latest instalments are the smallest notebook ever produced by the company and the world's fist notebook with a 17-inch screen. Apple has entered the browser war with its own web browser called Safari, claiming to be 3 times faster than Internet Explorer for Mac. Set to rival Microsoft's PowerPoint is Apple's presentation software KeyNote, featuring 3D transitions, professional styled themes and compatibility with PowerPoint, AppleWorks, PDF and other formats. Another new release is iLife, integrating Apple's iTunes 3, iPhoto 2, iMovie 3 and iDVD 3. Finally, coming out of its beta stage is iSync 1.0, synchronisation software that keeps calendar and address book information between devices up to date.

In response, Microsoft has extended the Mac Office Party promotion, offering a discount up to AU$559 when purchasing Office v. X (RRP $999) in combination with a new Mac. In addition, personal information manager Entourage X has been introduced to the Office v. X package and is available separately for AU$249.

Features include enhanced internet proxy server support; transport layer security encryption; universal printer driver support and multiple session support.

Canon has launched the imageRUNNER 1210, aimed at small businesses and workgroups. The 1210's first-copy-out time is claimed to be 13 seconds.
