Stonesoft corporation this week released StoneGate High Availability Firewall. Features include multi-layer inspection, multi-link redundant ISPs, high availability clustering and hierarchical administration levels.
Also on the firewall front, the PRO 230 and the PRO 330 have been released by SonicWALL. These internet security appliances feature ASIC-based IPSec VPN acceleration and single-arm mode VPN. The PRO 330 also features dual power supplies, for mission-critical reliability and costs AU$6,500. The PRO 230 costs AU$4,700.
Storage software company Veritas has released Backup Exec 9.0 for Windows servers. Veritas claims the new software provides the fastest backup and recovery of Exchange environments. It is aimed at small-to-medium sized businesses and sells for a RRP of US$795.
Integrity Data Systems has unleashed a wireless network "probe", AirMagnet, which can spot weaknesses, find rogue access points and pinpoint hoax entries. AirMagnet can also report when access points are overloaded and provide security vulnerability assessments. The AU$6000 solution operates on a handheld iPaq unit or notebook.
EFx Systems has announced the Australian distribution of a MP3/WAV/WMA compact jukebox recorder, the Mambo X P350. Available with up to 30GB of storage, it combines a portable jukebox player, direct MP3 encoder and a voice recorder. The device can also act as an external hard drive via USB. The Mambo X costs AU$695 for the 20GB model and AU$795 for the 30GB model.
Alcatel released two new additions to its OmniSwitch family, the 8000 series and the 6600 series. The 8000 series supports up to 384 Gigabit Ethernet ports with 240 Mpps of throughput and up to 16 10-gigabit Ethernet wire rate ports. The OmniSwitch 6600 starts at AU$5,655 and the 8000 series starts at AU$83,248.
IBM unveiled ImageUltra Builder 1.1, a program which claims to aid the software image creation and management process in heterogeneous, multi-platform environments. Version 1.1 costs $2,136, including 30 client licences for the resulting image.
The SCO Group has launched SCOoffice Mail Server featuring Microsoft Outlook compatibility, shared calendar, folders and global address book. Pricing starts at AU$60.00 per mail user, with packages available which include a base mail server, SCO Linux 4.0 and the Outlook Connector.
