Reviewer obviously has little knowledge of storage and has not really got any idea how the EVA works

I have had an EVA4400 unit in my data center for 6 months, it has been the direct cause of 5 major outages. I/O lockups, controller failures, 7 drive failures to date. So bad that HP has agreed to take the unit back and replace it with an EVA6400. Guarantee: You will regret owning the 4400. I will let you know on the 6400. PS. I have a CX300, EVA5000 and 2 IBM DS4800's - all trouble free.

    The good: None.

The bad: High Drive failure rates. Random lockups. Random Hardware failures. Still in Beta code revisions.

The good:
  • Easy setup and administration.
  • Highly scalable.
  • Provides excellent data protection through reliable and redundant systems.
  • Very high throughput rates allowing many simultaneous transactions.
  • Priced to suit relatively small businesses.
The bad:
  • A populated rack is not easy to move. (Make sure you are certain about where it will be living!)
The bottomline:

Reliable and scalable high-end data storage that medium sized businesses can afford.
