I think the Visimax has to be ...Cheryl Sinclair -- 01/06/09

I think the Visimax has to be seen in the right context. We puchased one and we are quite happy with it. We use it for small meeting with up to 6 people. Instead of sitting around a laptop trying to watch a presentation we can sit back and project it onto a wall, where we can all see it comfortably.

The good: Easy to carry around, is good value in our opinion compared to other small projectors on the market, is easy to throw in your bag while travelling interstate by air as it weighs nothing, is just a plug and play once you set the correct resolution on your laptop

The bad: Limited battery life but as we do business presentations this has not been a problem as we just plug into the mains power. Lumen output could be higher as you have to have blinds down and lights off but for the advantages it offers businesses doing presentations we have found the pros outweigh the cons.

Overview

The good:
  • LED lamp has a long life
  • Tiny
  • VGA and three pin component input
The bad:
  • Dimmer than the deepest pits of hell
  • Very low resolution
  • Painful price
  • Really poor battery life
  • Difficult to use with a mobile
  • Terrible contrast
  • Big fat power brick and cables reduce portability
The bottomline:

Despite the promise of its tiny size, the Maxon Visimax projector is little more than a gimmick, and an expensive one at that.
