I just got my projector and I ...Sogge -- 17/05/09

I just got my projector and I am pretty happy. Whilst I had read about the need to turn the lights off I had somehow chosen to ignore that thinking it probably wasn't going to be a problem. But sure does struggle in daylight, especially if you are projecting darker images.

I use it primarily with a netbook at is doing a fantastic job with powerpoint slides.

I don't understand the comments about the unit getting hot. I have had mine running for 2-3 hours and whilst it was warm, it wasn't uncomfortable. Also, the powerbrick is really thin - only about 1/3 of the one I have for my Dell laptop. It is a shame I have to carry two bricks, but then again with the netbook and the projector both being so tiny I really doesn't matter.

The good: Cute and cuddly. You'll get heaps of comments. So tiny and lightweight.

The bad: Requires a dark room (or use slides with whitebackground and dark text!) Menu buttons are a little tricky.

Because this uses a standard Dell power supply you can also power it via your car or air adapters also available from dell/belkin/targus...

Sweet... truely portable projector... create your own drive in theatre!!

Overview

The good:
  • Seriously tiny ... so it has novelty appeal
  • Very light at 360 grams
  • Easy to set up and use
  • Auto keystone adjustment
  • Super long lamp life
  • Low running cost
  • No mercury involved
The bad:
  • 1/40 of standard projector brightness
  • 2/3 to 1/2 the average projector resolution
  • Lots of cables reduce portability
  • Small maximum and minimum display size
  • Gets very hot
The bottomline:

Travellers may find Dell's tiny and long lived M109S projector a boon, but watch out for its low brightness.
