Lexmark's latest offering brings to the table a few key qualities that'll endear it to small businesses: affordability, versatility and speed.

Priced at A$979 (incl GST), the new E322 monochrome laser printer is an entry-level device that can print up to 16 pages per minute, with the first printed page arriving in about 12 seconds.

Targeted primarily at the SOHO and SME markets, the networkable E322 features an integrated bi-directional parallel port and a USB port, and it has full application compatibility with PCL 6, PPDS and PostScript Level 2 emulation. This printer, which comes with 8MB of memory, prints at a typical resolution of 600 x 600dpi and is also capable of 1200dpi prints.

The E322 is also versatile enough to handle a wide variety of media, including transparencies, envelopes, plain paper, labels and cardstocks, and paper weights that range from 64 to 163 grams per square metre. An optional second paper drawer lets you add another 250 sheets of paper to the existing 150-sheet capacity. Other options include additional memory (up to a maximum of 72MB for the E322) and a flash memory card for storing fonts, forms and macros.

Measuring 380 x 362 x 221mm (and weighing 9kg), this printer doesn't take up an inordinately large amount of space on a desk or cabinet top. And, with a duty cycle of 15,000 pages per month, it will give you plenty of bang for your buck.

The Lexmark E322 monochrome laser printer is currently available for about A$979 (incl GST).
