Remembering passwords can now be a thing of the past with the release of the first PC Card Fingerprint Reader on the Australian market.
Gone are the days of forgetting important passwords, Toshiba Information Systems (IDS) have released a new biometric solution which gives mobile PC users a heightened sense of security at the BIOS level.
The PCMCIA Card scans your fingerprint and can be installed in notebook computers with PC card slots, allowing users to replace passwords with a single biometric logon. It can benefit those who have to manage a large number of passwords, as multiple passwords can be replaced with a single biometric logon.
The Fingerprint Reader employs Identix's Biologon mobile biometric security software and the Identix optical fingerprint reader, the smallest of its kind.
Other available features include stand-alone and network log on, remote network user authentication logon and multi-factor security.
The PC Card Fingerprint Reader can be purchased individually, or as an optional add-on with all purchases of Toshiba notebook computers. Priced at AU$435 (including GST), the PCMCIA card is available directly from Toshiba's nationwide network of 5-star Specialist resellers. Listings can be found at www.isd.toshiba.com.au or www.mobileplus.com.au.
