PC-to-Phone Charger

If ever the phrase 'keep it simple stupid' applied in the case of a new phone accessory this is it. The PC-to-Phone Charger gives road warriors an easy way to re-charge their mobile phones when reaching a power socket is a bit of a stretch.

The PC-to-Phone Charger lets your mobile handset draw power from any device with a USB port to replenish its battery. A simple conversion lead designed to port USB peripheral power supply to handsets, the charger is a very low-tech idea but its one that could have a lot of currency for owners of PDAs and laptops.

If your mobile fades at a critical time, and you don't have access to a power outlet, you can use either of these devices draw the vital milli-amps necessary to save the day. Outside of emergency situations, the PC-to-Phone Charger lets you manage your power needs more effectively. Only 30 centimetres long and weighing just 15 grams, the wallet-sized charger frees you of the need to bare the excess bulk of your dedicated charger and reduces the number of power outlets that you need at your destination.

Battery life is a subject close to the hearts of most portable owners; close enough to have many wincing at the thought of asking anymore of power source that can barely afford to waste energy. Fortunately, the PC-to-Phone Charger's appetite shouldn't impact on the life of your laptop dramatically. It draws around 600mA per second. Theoretically, that means that that the average phone battery will take just over an hour to charge and draw power at around one-sixth the rate that your laptop would during normal operations (you will lose around 10 minutes life for every hour that the charger is attached).

There are nine versions of the PC-to-Phone Charger available with socket types to suit Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Ericsson and Alcatel brand handsets.
