Manufacturer: Nokia
Hey, I use a phone with only infrared connectivity... Is it really THAT archaic? =)
The good: Haven't seen it.
The bad: Haven't seen it.
I have had the phone for two months now and in the beginning I did find the battery life average to say the least. Also the menu was slow. Recently I download the software (firmware) update for the phone. When it was plugged into my PC using the USB cable it asked if I wanted to download the latest version. I did this and after 100mb download it installed all by itself and now I have found the battery life to be twice as long and menus much quicker to navigate. I love the 3.5mm AV plug which will actually display everything that is on the screen directly to your television. The stereo speakers are great, best I have heard on a phone and when you connect your headphones, the sound reproduction is fantastic. Good bye iPod! I use the 3.5mm plug to plug directly into the iPod socket in my car and use the phone as my portable music player. When somebody calls the music stops and you can actaully use the 3.5mm plug as a hands free kit, the callers voice comes through the car's speakers. Camera quaity is no Canon EOS 5D but it is definately the best I have seen from a phone. Thanks to the internet there are many sites where you can download ringtones, themes, etc... all for free which the phone accepts quite easily using the PC Suite software. I'm a little disappointed about having to pay for the voice navigation but when you consider the cost of AU$130 for three years it is relatively cheap next to a stand alone GPS. The GPS receiver will decrease the battery life quickly.
The good: - Small, sleek and elegant. - Very easy to use - Fantastic compatibility and connectivity - Great music player and camera
The bad: - Slowish menu navigation (even though it is lightening compared to 6670 & N70/N80) - Voice Navigation charges
The phone itself is an excellent phone, but the only complaint I have is that it seems to be extra sensitive to Moisture! Our Old Nokia phones we have answered with wet hair. My husband has been stuck out in a shower of rain with them and not had a problem but this one has had neither and apparently been exposed to moisture somewhere still and voided waranty. So what ever you do dont touch your phone if your hands are sweating or talk on the phone while you are crying. What a JOKE! Come on Nokia surely you can seal a phone up better than that. A 3 month old $1300 phone useless! Thanks a lot!
The good: Great camera. All features are great.
The bad: Does not seal very well if sweating or crying can break your phone and void warranty.
The Satnav On the Nokia N95 didn't work, so i sued Nokia. After 30 days there was no response from Nokia and the court ordered them to refund me £300....Heres my case sent to www.moneyclaim.gov.uk
"Goods "not fit for purpose".Claimant purchased a Nokia N95 mobile phone with GPS satnav. At no stage did the GPS work properly. The Claimant contacted T-mobile(sellers)who informed him that responsibility laid with NokiaUk. Nokia offered many fixes&advice on various software updates and patches &other ways to correct the defect(e.g "assisted GPS"). Many hours (hundreds) were expended over several months followingAdvice but to no avail. In Nov2007 the defendant informed the claimant that nothing further Could be done&the claiment took this as an admission that the product was "not fit for purpose". Prior to purchase the claimant researched the manufacturers specs (nokia.com). The phone was purchased from T-mobile (In-house sales line). TheClaimant made it clear to the salesperson that he only wished to purchase a phone with GPS capabilities. He was assured that the GPS would be effective.During the same call the purchase was made. The GPS proved innefective and the claimant now seeks a refund of the costs incurred with this purchase"
The good: internet surfing
The bad: GPS satnav is poor. Assisted GPS is a trick, wait till you get out of the city and see your N95 GPS capabilities in action (or not)
Look! What's miraculous! Only Nokia N95
If you need an all-in-one communications, navigation and imaging device and don't mind charging it every night, Nokia's N95 raises the bar in the mobile world.

This IS NOT "the second phone after the Mio A701 to have sat-nav built in."
There was the HP iPAQ 6500 series that had sat-nav built in a couple of years ago, and the improved models that came out in June '06, the 6900 series (I have a 6915). The sat-nav is great! I use TomTom software and maps.
The good: Dunno. Haven't seen it.
The bad: Dunno. Haven't seen it.
