... or perhaps we could eschew all of this nonsensical, slightly scary 'must, must, must have' hysteria and shop with a little objectivity...
I purchased one on the spot the day they became available in Australia. It was just a spectacular device and I just had to have one. Now that 3 weeks have past and that the lust is gone, I would agree with this review: the iPod touch has yet to reach its full potential; in particular the fact that it can not be used as flash storage like the other iPods or that it has been stripped down of too many features compared to the iPhone. I do hope that the availability of the Software Development Kit to Third Party developers next year will give this device its full potential.
The good: - auto-rotation of the screen according to the way the iPod is being held and touch interface amazing. - LCD is large and sharp - Web Browsing really usable
The bad: - expensive - can not be used as flash storage (I suspect this will be changed with the 3rd party SDK)
I went for the Unlocked Iphone and having used a touch wouldnt have it any other way. It is so much more convenient having the phone built in to the ipod.
Great ipod though, if you are considering it pay the extra cash and get an unlocked iphone
Is 16 gb a bit of a joke when the standard IPod is now up to 160 gb
Brought a week ago and it is a good gadget. Not sure how to shuffle music videos without pressing manually.
i was wandering if anyone can help me. i was wandering, since the ipod touch has a web browser, can u use the ipod touch do download stuff when there is wireless internet available. This excludes downloading songs from itunes. Im reffering to in general downloading, like surfing web sites and downloading stuff.

Now the real question is whether is is better to buy an unlocked iPhone $650 (8gb) vs $419 for an IPod Touch (8gb), and get access to the full functions in the iPhone, as a true alternative to the Touch, if you dont choose to use the phone functions just yet...
